We're hoping he'll test negative in the next month or two. He is definitely NOT good with cats but he LOVES other dogs! 5/18 update: Buddy is not neutered yet. They both bark at the cats, so unlikely they'd be good with cats. Update 5/13: Buddy and Sissy update. They are starting to act like German Shepherds. Territorial with barking. But when you go in they back up and everything stops. They alerted me to Sugar's escape last night. No food aggression that I can tell. Able to remove dinner plates from their dog house (they keep retreating there) without incident and when given a treat, Sissy took hers outside it to eat. He pretty much takes his cue from her, although he doesn't like me to touch him. When I get Sugar gone, I will see what happens when they are separated. Still no actual aggression that I can see - not sure how they do with other dogs other than barking at them. She comes forward but won't stay for long. But I can touch her. In these circumstances at the shelter I normally remove the top of their dog houses so they can't hide, but don't want to do that outside in the kennel, although it is half covered. 10 X 15 so it good size. They haven't pooped yet. Update 5/12: Just got them settled in. Both Sissy and Buddy were afraid of the leash, and the young man held onto Sissy while I drove the van to the back of their area to make it easier to load them, since they didn't walk. He let Sissy splay out on the end of the leash like a fish and when the van came up she went up under the wheel well. It took two of us around 10 minutes to get her out. me pushing her head down and him pulling from the back. When she got out I picked her up and put her in the crate. I had to corner Buddy in the kennel to get him. I did put the lead on him just to secure him and not lose him, and picked him up, but he is outside my ability to lift. The young man helped me get him in the crate. He urinated and defecated on me and the crate. Once home, Sissy came out and freaked out at the leash, so I picked her up and took her into the kennel. She immediately began exploring and actually came up and nudged my hand several times while I was busy. She will come around fairly quickly once she is comfortable in a situation. My husband and I brought Buddy's crate into the kennel and opened it, He came out readily and explored a little bit. At any stress, however, he runs into the dog house. He is presently hiding there. We need to get them used to the lead. I will go get collars for them today. They are terrified but totally non-aggressive. Neither made any move to bite me or the young man despite being terrified and essentially manhandled during the stressful transfer at the shelter. My home is in the wilderness and is very quiet aside from my barking small dogs. I think they will settle down in a bit. After they settle in, we will try to determine if they are bonded or should be separated. Shelter bio: Buddy and Sissie were surrendered together, and seem very attached to each other. Sissie is already spayed, and most likely Buddy is neutered, but we need to verify that. I was told that they don't walk well on leash, but that they are very sweet dogs. They seem to be shy because they wouldn't come outsid
